The challenges of checking off the “to-do” list when moving between two states seem insignificant compared to the conditions of the countries requiring global assistance and military action. Yet, they are fundamental to quotidian life and well-being, so I will share material to consider. But first, on a lighter note, in contrast to the seriousness of global network news, YouTube channels introduce us to diverse people sharing their unique perspectives about making life healthier and enjoyable in activities, hobbies, and careers. I appreciate global content creators, their efforts, and YouTube for the massive library of subject matter. I feel hope and optimism for humanity and family.
We moved between neighboring States, which, in concept, seem near and yet far by way of laws and taxes. It is just over a border that the government and cartographers created years ago. The borders define the States and their rules. A move between the States makes changing anything related to governing one’s personal life and business a demanding task. We packed our household and downsized, then hired professional movers, which was an excellent decision. When we arrived at our new location, we were lucky and appreciative of our family’s hospitality while we looked for a place to live. After we found a temporary place, our family and friends helped us move our things from storage to a small apartment. We had to unpack to get our necessities, repack the extra household goods, and move them back to storage because moving into a space with less than half the square footage we previously had was a new space reality.
A valuable lesson learned is that if one plans to live in an apartment while looking for property again, one should pack things for an apartment separate from the so-called forever home furnishings. To spend time and energy unpacking and repacking nearly every box is overwhelming and redundant. We then licensed our pets in our new City, filed our change of addresses twice, and acquired our new driver’s licenses and voter’s registrations. Additionally, I’m obliged to learn about the laws for business here.
How do I structure my business and hire professionals to help me with the legalities of licensing and operating a company with the State, County, and City efficiently so I can focus on conceptualizing eCommerce’s designs, marketing, and general maintenance? The State’s government website has tools to use while navigating through its links. It also has supportive staff available on chat with answers and suggestions. The tax structures differ between the States in this particular relocation. One has a sales tax, and the other doesn’t; one has an income tax, and the other doesn’t. These regulated issues impact my business through retail prices for my customers, profitability for the company, and the ability to keep the business operational. It is another activity of repetition to update data entry for each item’s cost of production, price adjustment due to tax, and shipping prices. The move, the necessary bookkeeping/ accounting, and legal duties overshadowed the desire to create the production line, so I waved goodbye to the last due date for shipping in time for the Holidays in 2023 as it passed by. I am concentrating on preparing designs for 2024. May Comfort, Happiness, and Faith be where needed.
